HonorHealth Foundation - 2024 Impact Report - Desert MissionImpact Report | HonorHealth Desert Mission

Your generosity in action!

Your gift fuels Desert Mission’s long history of meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Because of you, in 2023, Desert Mission Food Bank distributed a total of 2,449,327 pounds of food through the front door of the food bank and its offsite community distribution programs.

5,040 meals were distributed weekly to 60 low-income seniors thanks to a pilot project funded exclusively by compassionate donors.

And that was just the beginning!

Philanthropy made this and so much more possible. It’s your kindness, compassion and generosity that make a difference when and where it’s needed most.

And for that, we thank you!

HonorHealth Foundation - 2024 Impact Report - Desert Mission Food BankMaking great care possible is just the start!

The need is all around us
For more than 96 years, Desert Mission has provided comfort to young children, fragile adults and families in need. Your generous philanthropy ensures that we can continue to care for the vulnerable members of our community.

Your gift made an incredible difference for those in need and continues Desert Mission’s legacy of caring. Your gift helped us:

  • Provide nutritious food and fresh produce to hungry children, families and seniors in need.
  • Support children’s early learning, life skill development and school readiness, and give parents access to resources and the knowledge to support their child’s education and
    development.
  • Offer activities and enrichment for older adults, many with neurological conditions, and respite for their caregivers.
  • Put individuals on the path toward self-sufficiency by helping them navigate resources, connect to public and community benefits programs and receive financial coaching.

In 2023, generous donors like you provided hope to many who once had none

During the 2022-23 school year, the Desert Mission Lincoln Learning Center program provided support for 297 school-age children with 98 percent of pre-K graduates assessed as kindergarten-ready.

Desert Mission Food Bank provided 20,168 emergency food boxes (a 22 percent increase over last year) and supplied 10,096 households with food (many of whom were served multiple times).

Among other efforts, 4,880 federally funded emergency food boxes, supplemented by the Food Bank, were distributed to low-income seniors.

Desert Mission Adult Day Health Care provided a safe environment and beneficial activities for older adults, 25 percent of whom are veterans, with the oldest enjoying each day at 102 years old!

HonorHealth Foundation - 2024 Impact Report - Desert Mission - BlaiseBecause of you

Blaise, a senior on a fixed income, came into the Desert Mission Food Bank in a distressed state. The 64 year-old man is living on social security income and doing his best to make ends meet.

He was recently served an eviction notice and has been trying to work with the Department of Economic Security to participate in the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Through the months without any news, Blaise began to lose hope and believed he was destined to become homeless.

The caring staff at Desert Mission helped Blaise by providing him with much needed technology and personal assistance to resubmit his ERAP application. Because he couldn’t find his lease, our community services specialist contacted his landlord to obtain the necessary paperwork.

Shortly after, he was approved for the ERAP and received greatly needed and appreciated rental assistance. Blaise was so relieved to be able to stay in his apartment.

The Desert Mission team is continuing to guide and reassure Blaise by connecting him with housing assistance agencies and helping him apply for low-income housing so he does not experience this crisis again. Because of you, Desert Mission is a beacon of hope for Blaise and so many more just like him!

HonorHealth Foundation is grateful for your transformational investment in our community!
