Rosie’s Journey

When Rosie’s tumor returned for the third time, she nearly lost hope.

Her liposarcoma was first diagnosed in 2017, after which she endured two surgeries and multiple rounds of radiation treatment. When it continued to come back, she lost the ability to care for herself. Surgeons had to remove her gallbladder and one of her kidneys to get to the 30-pound tumor.

And then it came back. Again.

Rosie had already been through so much. But a small seed of hope flickered within her when she learned about a clinical trial at HonorHealth Research Institute.

Under the care of Dr. Michael S. Gordon, HRI chief medical officer, Rosie participated in the Agenus trial. As her tumor began to shrink, she gained mobility and independence again.

“I recommend HonorHealth Research Institute to everyone,” Rosie says. “If you are looking for a last hope, you might find it here.”

Thanks to donors' generous support for the Greatest Needs Fund, in 2024 we were able to provide a wide variety of resources for patients and staff, including:

• The purchase of a 15-passenger van to transport at-risk Desert Mission Lincoln Learning Center Students
• A new Surgical Robotic Navigation System for Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center
• A Balance Tutor System for physical therapy patients
• A dedicated nurse for Desert Mission’s Adult Day Health Care program

And those are just a few highlights! Simply put, giving to the Greatest Needs Fund ensures programs and services across HonorHealth deliver the excellent care that our patients expect and deserve.

Make your IRA work for good

If you’re 70½ or older, you can donate up to $100,000 from your IRA to HonorHealth tax-free through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

If you’re 73 or older, your IRA requires you to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) each year. A QCD from your IRA can count toward your RMD and won’t be taxed — saving you money while helping HonorHealth!

You can use your IRA to change and save lives! Benefits of making a QCD gift to HonorHealth Foundation include:

✅ Satisfy your RMD
✅ Support the work of HonorHealth

Join us on the catwalk!

HonorHealth Foundation and Macy’s are working to give all women the strength to fight on their journey back to health with a special fashion show, and proceeds benefit HonorHealth Cancer Care!

You can help them fight, too. Buy a ticket to our “cancer catwalk,” in partnership with Scottsdale Fashion Square, and you’ll be donating to HonorHealth Cancer Care to support all patients navigating the breast cancer journey.

HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center welcomes the tiniest and most vulnerable patients into our arms through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). These special babies need innovative and precision care — made possible through your generosity.
