Meet the Manager of HonorHealth’s Forensic Nurse Examiner Program:

Jill Rable, MSN-ED, RN, AFN-BC, CPN, SANE-A

Jill Rable joined HonorHealth’s Forensic Nurse Examiner program in 2006 and now serves as the program’s manager. The Forensic Nurse Examiner program was nominated for Magnet exemplar recognition in 2017.

In addition to overseeing a team of nearly 30 forensic nurse examiners and staff, Jill manages financial, staffing and other leadership responsibilities. She also functions as an active forensic nurse examiner, providing medical-forensic examinations and evidence collection. Jill has completed training as a forensic nurse and sexual assault nurse examiner, as well as a pediatric sexual assault nurse examiner, and holds advanced practice forensic nurse board certification and SANE-A (sexual assault nurse examiner-adult/adolescent) certification from the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).

Jill has performed more than 900 medical-forensic exams and testified numerous times as a fact and expert witness for intimate partner assault cases, including local, statewide and nationally for superior court, federal court and military court systems. Jill holds a Master of Science in Nursing Education. She spearheaded a nationally recognized program to serve domestic violence strangulation victims and is a faculty educator for the Strangulation Training Institute. In 2013, Jill was personally recognized for excellence in forensic nursing by the IAFN. She also has received the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office Distinguished Service Award as well as a patriot award from the Department of Defense in May 2019 for providing the flexibility an HonorHealth Forensic Nurse Examiner needed to serve both the program and Navy Reserves.

“Being a Forensic Nurse Examiner is hands down the most rewarding work I’ve ever done. I am privileged to care for someone on their very worst day, and truly get as much as I give when I help in that critical time of need. The impact that our program has on a victim of crime is overwhelming. We help patients start on the road to a better day.

Although interpersonal violence is an uncomfortable topic, HonorHealth’s Forensic Nurse Examiners program is so fortunate and grateful for individuals who support the important work we do and share our passion for making a difference.”
