Zwiener A New Partner in Care Thanks to the generosity and leadership of dedicated donors, Max — an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois — is the newest member of HonorHealth’s K-9 Security Program. What began in 2000 with just two dogs has grown into a trusted team of 23 highly trained K-9 partners serving eight hospitals, providing safety, comfort and connection for patients, families and staff. Inspired by a campus visit, HonorHealth Foundation Trustees Louise Zirretta, Tracey Hemstreet and Rex Porter, together with their spouses, came together to support the addition of a K-9 officer at HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center. Their collective gift brought Max to the team, where he now serves alongside his handler, Francisco, offering both reassurance and security to all he encounters. HonorHealth’s K-9 Security Program is funded entirely through philanthropy, making leadership support essential to sustaining and growing this unique resource. Carefully selected and rigorously trained, each K-9 team is prepared to meet the complex needs of a hospital environment. Max’s presence is a powerful example of how passionate philanthropy can create meaningful impact — enhancing safety, strengthening care and bringing moments of comfort to those who need it most.
